Spreading Joy and Encouragement Through Hand Lettering
My son, Simon, is beginning to talk and it’s so fun to listen to what he has to say! I’m starting a journal titled “Simon Says” to record the funny things I hear him say. The first things I’ll write in there are how he’s currently calling muffins “muppers” and requesting to take “sheekal baths” (baths with popsicles). Let’s hear funny things your kids have said!

How is it already July?! I’m just getting back into the swing of things after a week of vacation but thankfully it’s a short week since the 4th is on Thursday!

Here is the product of yesterday’s DIY contraption. You can still see a little bit of the box ? I also got a junk call on my phone during the last 5 seconds that cut the video short, but I think it came out great all things considered ? I’m sad that my vacation is winding down, but I had an amazing time and am happy to be going back to a fully functioning studio.
The crazy things you do for social media… Here is the iPhone stand I constructed out of a box, 2 seashells, a plastic toy dinosaur container, and an outdoor serving tray to shoot the video for an upcoming post. This better be good because I’m only doing it once ?
Smile, it’s Friday! ? I’ve had an amazing week with my son at my parent’s house at the beach, and my husband will be flying down for a day soon to join the fun! I’ve got a lot to smile about this week. How about you? What are you smiling about today?
People tell me all the time that their handwriting is terrible and they could never do calligraphy, but calligraphy and hand lettering are more like art as opposed to everyday handwriting. It takes practice to get better, and nobody starts off lettering masterpieces on day one.
Here’s my rushing out the door handwriting…nothing like my calligraphy! If you’ve ever thought about trying calligraphy but haven’t because you have “bad handwriting”, just get started and see what happens. Sometimes action > perfection. ?
I did my first #pourpaintingof a beach scene yesterday with my grandmom @lizloves2paint (who is very good at this by the way ?). It was a lot of fun to learn a new craft, and I absolutely love how it turned out! ❤️
I’m thinking I might add some lettering to it, or I may just keep it as is. Any suggestions? ?
